Comcast Cable TV

Chances are if you live in the United States, you’ve heard of Comcast and it’s “Comcastic” programming line-up. The nation’s largest provider of cable and internet products, Comcast serves its 24.6 million cable subscribers an impressive selection of over 250 channels as well as a number of consumer products and services.

On Demand
This feature allows subscribers complete control over what, when, and how long they want to watch their favorite programs. This service launched in 2003 and has grown exponentially in both popularity and programming options. Considering Comcast customers average over 300 million On Demand views a month, this particular feature is re-inventing the way Americans watch television.

  1. The current library has over 10,000 choices--and it keeps growing.
  2. 90% of the On-Demand programs are offered at no additional charge.
  3. Customers have the ability to rewind, pause, fast-forward and restart selections.
  4. Line-up includes TV shows, music videos, movies, children’s programming, news, fitness shows, and more.

High-Definition
If you want to watch something in High-Definition, chances are, Comcast has it in its line-up. With over 1,000 HD choices in 2008 alone, Comcast has made a commitment to be an industry leader in providing the highest quality picture available.

Digital Video Recorder (DVR)
Coupled with On-Demand, Comcast recognizes the ever-changing world of digital cable television. With a digital video recorder, you have the ability to:

  1. Record up to 80 hours of regular television (15 hours HD)
  2. Rewind and pause live TV (otherwise known as “instant replay” for the rest of us)
  3. Task two programs at once. With dual-tuner DVRs, you can record two separate channels or watch one channel while it saves content on another.
  4. Save space--your DVR will also serve as your cable box.

Interactive Program Guide
Comcast features an interactive program guide that helps organize all of the above choices in an easy-to-use format.

  1. Set favorite channels and align new viewing choices.
  2. Record television shows one season at a time.
  3. Set parental controls.
  4. Select and order On-Demand programming.

Movies
An important component to home entertainment is the ability to watch uninterrupted (at least as far as commercials are concerned) new and classic movies. Comcast currently offers 1,300 On Demand movies per month, with plans to expand that selection in 2009 to include 6,000 new titles (3,000 will be available in HD).

Along with the above digital cable options, Comcast also provides these additional services which can be bundled as necessary:

  1. IP-enabled Digital Voice phone service
  2. Comcast Interactive Media (CIM)
  3. Comcast Business Class
  4. High-speed Internet
